Hayden Parker showed the rugby world seven days ago he had a good left boot. On Saturday he showed his right boot is not bad either as a last-minute drop goal off his wrong foot helped the Sunwolves beat the Stormers 26-23 at Mong Kok Stadium.

The New Zealand-born flyhalf had already scored a try, three penalty goals and two conversions to keep his side in with a chance of making history -- the third penalty a minute from time right on the edge of his range in energy sapping conditions.

But with the Stormers on the attack as the seconds ticked away, the sensible money was on the two teams either playing out a second draw in their fifth encounter, or the Sunwolves conceding a penalty at the death as the Stormers kept the ball tight looking to force an infringement.

But a superb turnover from Jaba Bregvadze gave the Sunwolves one last chance and Parker made no mistake, despite it being the first time he has kicked a drop goal off his right boot -- as the Sunwolves won away from Japan and won two straight games for the first time in their history.

"I wanted to go off my left but (the Stormers defender) came at it. So I thought I would go off my right and see what happened. It wasn't a great strike but it went over," Parker said after the game.

"You couldn't see the clock at the stadium so I wasn't sure if there was still time to play. But thank God there wasn't."

A week ago, Parker scored 36 points -- including 12 kicks from 12 attempts -- as the Sunwolves beat the Reds, and head coach Jamie Joseph joked he did not want to give too much praise to the 27-year-old.

"Hayden got a big rap from me last week so I can't give him too much," Joseph said. "But if you just have a look at the quality of the game in terms of what the forward packs had to do in that heat, they laid the foundations for the win."

"We were playing a very big pack that targeted our set piece and they did well in those situations. But we were able to put them under pressure in other areas and Hayden was a big part of that. He controlled the game very well, he put the ball in front of the forwards and our energy and mindset was a wee bit more positive than the Stormers. He put them under pressure and controlled the game really well."

Parker, for his part, also praised the forwards and the rest of the team.

"I am just the finishing product of everything the team does," Parker said. "As much as people give me the credit, it's everyone else in the team doing their job that gives me the opportunity, so I'd like to thank everyone for doing their job."

Parker said the conditions in Hong Kong -- where the pitch-side temperatures were in the mid-30s and humidity at 85 percent -- were "by far the hottest conditions I have ever played in."

"The one thing we kept talking about was if we're feeling it, then they, being a lot bigger boys than us, will surely be feeling it a lot worse. I just looked across at guys on the ground and hands on knees and tried to use that to just give me energy to keep going."

"For 80 minutes we kept plugging away and thank God the result went our way in the end."
