The Los Angeles Angels' Shohei Ohtani is set to miss his next scheduled start with a sprained left ankle, manager Mike Scioscia said Sunday.

Ohtani was set to face the Baltimore Orioles at Angel Stadium on Tuesday. The right-hander will now be replaced by Nick Tropeano, but Scoiscia, speaking after a 2-1 loss to the New York Yankees, said Ohtani has been penciled into start during the three-game series at Ichiro Suzuki's Seattle Mariners starting Friday.

Ohtani, 23, would face the 44-year-old Suzuki for the first time in his career.

On Friday against the Yankees, Ohtani hit his fourth home run in his first at-bat but on his next trip to the plate, tweaked his ankle on the bag as he tried to beat out a grounder.

Ohtani on Sunday played catch before Scoscia held the two-way Japanese star out of the lineup as designated hitter for the second straight game against the Yankees.
