Los Angeles right-hander Kenta Maeda fanned 10 batters in 5-2/3 innings en route to his second win of the season Wednesday in the Dodgers' 13-4 victory over the San Diego Padres that capped a three-game sweep.

After a shaky start against the National League West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, Maeda (2-1) threw 74 strikes in 106 pitches while allowing four runs that were canceled out by the visitors' early lead at Petco Park.

After back-to-back RBIs put the Dodgers ahead, Maeda fanned his first two batters before retiring the third on a ground out. An RBI single in the second inning set up in part by Maeda's sacrifice bunt put the Dodgers up 4-0.

Two singles and Cory Spangenberg's line drive to right put Maeda into a one-out, bases loaded jam in the second. The Japanese righty gave up a run on a walk to the next batter, and Luis Perdomo's sacrifice fly cut the gap to two.

In the top of the third, the Dodgers' lineup cost San Diego right-hander Luis Perdomo (1-2) five runs on five straight hits including a Max Muncy two-run homer -- a streak that ended when Maeda struck out swinging.

Maeda started the third strong with a strikeout, but gave up a Carlos Asuaje two-run RBI double into the left corner. With two outs and runners on first and third, he fanned catcher Austin Hedges to end the inning.

He went three-up, three-down in the fourth, and fanned three of four batters in the fifth, hitting Christian Villanueva's left hand on a high-and-inside 93 mile-per-hour fastball.

The 30-year-old retired two in the sixth but was replaced by lefty Adam Liberatore after singles put runners on first and second. Maeda avoided any further trouble when the reliever fanned his first batter.

Submarine right-hander Kazuhisa Makita took the mound for the Padres in the seventh and only gave up one hit on the four batters he faced, but the Dodgers added four more in the eighth and ninth to seal their fourth straight win.
