Police served a fresh arrest warrant Wednesday on an American man for allegedly murdering a woman in Osaka in February.

Yevgeniy Vasilievich Bayraktar, 26, who has been charged with dismembering and dumping the body of 27-year-old Saki Kondo, has denied he murdered her, the police said.

The man, from Long Island, New York, is suspected of strangling Kondo at a condominium rented out to tourists in the western Japanese city on Feb. 16.

The police believe he dismembered Kondo's body at the condominium before dumping the parts in several locations in Kyoto and Osaka prefectures between Feb. 18 and Feb. 21.

On March 20, prosecutors pressed the body mutilation and dumping charges on the American.

In video footage taken by a surveillance camera, Bayraktar is seen entering the condominium building with the woman from Sanda, Hyogo Prefecture, and then repeatedly going in and out alone with a suitcase.

The victim and Bayraktar, who came to Japan in late January, exchanged messages through a social networking website, investigative sources said earlier. The police also found he had taken several other women to the Osaka condominium. They were not harmed.
