Teenage figure skater Mai Mihara led a Japanese podium sweep on Sunday in the women's senior competition at the Coupe du Printemps.

After finishing second in Saturday's short program, the 18-year-old Mihara outclassed her compatriots in the free skate for a personal best total of 215.49 points.

Kaori Sakamoto, who held a slim lead after a personal-best 73.27 short program score, finished second with 202.56 points, ahead of Yuna Shiraiwa.

In the men's singles, Japan's Kazuki Tomono won the free skate to finish with 227.84 points, second overall behind Sweden's Alexander Majorov's 229.65. Tomono entered the free skate in third place. France's Romain Ponsart finished third.

Tomono, Keiji Tanaka and Pyeongchang Games silver medalist Shoma Uno, a substitute for two-time Olympic men's champion Yuzuru Hanyu, will represent Japan at the world championships in Milan starting this week.
