TOKYO - Tokyo is under attack by enemy brigades from outer space! To mark the 40th anniversary of its classic hit Space Invaders, Japanese arcade game manufacturer Taito Corp. is holding an event in the middle of the capital.

It is projecting the game onto windows of an observatory lounge in the landmark Roppongi Hills high-rise complex overlooking the city.

"I'm so happy that fans have enjoyed the game for such a long time," Tomohiro Nishikado, creator of the game that was first released in Japan in 1978, said at the event's opening ceremony.

Once the sun goes down, up to 10 visitors at a time can play the game, which is projected onto an area 7 meter meters high by 15m wide, with images of advancing space enemies blending into the night view from about 240m above the ground.

The event runs from Jan. 12, 2018, through the end of the month.
