The cake-filled KitKat Chocolatory Gateau Mignon will form part of a new and exclusive KitKat menu to be released in celebration of the July 25 re-opening of the maker’s flagship Chocolatory store and cafe in Tokyo’s Ginza district.

Overseen by patissier Yasumasa Takagi (of Le Patissier Takagi), the man behind a number of KitKat creations, the new "Chocolatory" store and cafe in Ginza promises to take KitKats to new heights, this despite already being able to boast of an impressive 1,700,000 plus customers since its Jan. 2014 opening.

The new KitKat Chocolatory Gateau Mignon along with other new menu items will be exclusive to the Ginza Chocolatory which is set to feature a cafe on the second floor as a venue in which to indulge.

KitKat Chocolatory Gateau Mignon’s core "fondant chocolat" ingredient is something that Takagi took eight years to develop as the key ingredient in his signature "Gateau Tagaki". In order to balance the famed KitKat crunch with the smooth fondant chocolat, Tagaki played for one year a game of trial and error with the addition of a layer of gateau chocolate cake thus bringing the “cake” element to this new KitKat.

In addition to the KitKat Chocolatory Gateau Mignon three new items / services will also be on the menu in Ginza:

Below Freezing Nitrogen

A freezing version of the KitKat "Moleson", released in 2016 under the fanfare of being the first KitKit to come with toppings (fruits and nuts), served together with a matcha coated bar filled with ice monaka (a Japanese sweet made of azuki bean paste sandwiched between two crispy mochi wafers).  A sweet perfect for summer.

Kit Kat Chocolatory Parfait

Dense, rich fondant chocolat comes with three flavors of ice cream, fresh fruit, carefully selected and crushed cocoa, overflowing with fruits and nuts, and all combined with three fruity KitKats to create a luxury parfait.

Kit Kat Chocolatory Sublime Original Message Service

A service through which customers can create personalised messages on the surface of Nestlé's "Sublime" KitKat range that will come packaged in a posh box for an extra touch of class.

Kit Kat Chocolatory Gateau Mignon will be sold in packs of three for 1,458 yen and packs of six for 2,916 yen and will be available for purchase until the end of October 2017. Between July 25 and 31 the first ten customers to Ginza Chocolatory each day will receive a "Fondant Chocolat" cake present with each purchase.
