San Jose was host to the annual anime convention, FanimeCon 2017, the largest event of its kind in Northern California.  The convention that bills itself as being "by fans, for fans", was basking in perfect end-of-May temperatures at the time of our visit.  There were a number of amazing cosplayers enjoying photo shoots, chatting with friends or relaxing at the 'con', held at the San Jose Convention Center.

Here are some of the amazing cosplayers that we found at this year's celebration of Japanese popular culture.

At this year's event, we saw lots of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, NieR:Automata, and Overwatch cosplay! It is lovely to see that 'Fanime' remains a family-friendly con with many 'chibi' cosplayers on site.

While this visitor had the impression that attendance was lower compared to previous years, FanimeCon 2017 was arguably the perfect size convention, held in perfect North California weather!
