Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike and comedian Piko Taro appear together in a video released Friday to promote the use of energy-efficient light-emitting diode bulbs, singing and dancing to the melody of Piko Taro's hit song "Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen."

The video produced by the Tokyo metropolitan government was made to publicize a campaign to offer one LED bulb for free in exchange for two or more ordinary light bulbs brought from households.

The Tokyo government has set aside 1.8 billion yen ($16 million) for the bulb replacement project in the fiscal 2017 budget. The campaign will start July 10.

In the video, the two wear Piko Taro's trademark leopard print scarf and dance to the melody of PPAP, but with different lyrics such as "I have a light bulb." They make gestures of pushing two ordinary light bulbs together, which turn into one LED bulb, and say, "Uh! LED light bulb."

Koike said at a press conference Friday that replacing one million 60-watt incandescent light bulbs with LED bulbs would reduce electricity costs by about 2.34 billion yen and carbon dioxide emissions by about 44,000 tons annually.

"I hope (the program) will help raise (public) awareness of energy-saving issues," she said.
