Minato City in Tokyo spans various neighborhoods from historical Azabu, Odaiba, and Daimon to trendy Roppongi and Aoyama. We’d like to tell you about an event in this eclectic area.

Minato City holds the “Japan-Wide Product Exhibition” every year to promote and foster exchanges between the city’s local businesses and municipal governments throughout Japan. This will be the event’s 11th year.

Representatives of 37 municipal governments will gather near Shimbashi Station to showcase delectable regional food and drinks, from seafood such as crabs, scallops and sea urchin to locally-raised chicken and wagyu beef, and local sake. The event will also offer the opportunity to buy unique souvenirs usually sold only locally.

There will be stage performances featuring regional mascots and raffles to win prizes such as locally-produced goods.

The event will be staged in two locations: SL Square in front of the JR Shimbashi Station with its distinctive steam locomotive placed there to commemorate the centenary of railway service in Japan; and nearby Sakurada Park which is a favorite spot for office workers and families.

Past events have been very lively. Last year, around 150,000 people came for the two-day event, enjoying seasonal goods and stage performances.

Please come and take this opportunity to enjoy the objects of local pride.

Minato City is full of other attractive locations. Tokyo Tower, just a stop away from Shimbashi Station at Hamamatsucho-Daimon, is an integral part of the capital’s scenery. It is a favorite spot for tourists from around the world to take in the scenic view from the tower’s observatory overlooking Tokyo and its magical night lights. At the tower’s feet lies the 600-year-old Zojo-ji Temple with its deep ties to the Tokugawa Shogunate family, reflecting the history of Edo, the old capital.

Minato City is very enticing with its contrast between the hip and the historical, its waterfront views, and the romantic night scenery of the big city. Step into the sophisticated world offered by Minato City—we’re sure you’ll find another Tokyo that you haven’t encountered before.
