Organizers of next year's Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games on Friday unveiled uniforms for some 110,000 volunteers that were designed to be functional, fashionable and recognizable.

The hot weather uniform for Games volunteers consists of a navy blue polo shirt, trousers and sneakers, while complementary items include socks, zip-up jackets, brimmed hats and bags. The clothes are made of breathable fabrics and feature the Tokyo Games' emblem.

There will be two types of polo shirts -- one for the "Field Cast" volunteers working at competition venues and athletes' village, and one for the "City Cast" volunteers, who will assist tourists and manage traffic at airports and train stations.

The flexible pants come with detachable legs and can be converted into shorts.

A committee made up of Olympians, Paralympians, fashion experts and sporting volunteers voted on the uniform design in March. Sportswear manufacturer Asics Corp., an official partner of the Games, will make the uniforms.
