World No. 1 and two-time Grand slam winner Naomi Osaka will miss next week's Qatar Open due to a back injury, her management company confirmed Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Japanese will not compete in the Feb. 11-16 hard court tournament at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha but is scheduled to be back in time for the Dubai Tennis Championships which get underway Feb. 17, the agency said.

Osaka won the Australian Open last month and ended Romania's Simona Halep's 48-week reign atop the WTA rankings. Qatar Open organizers announced that Osaka's place as top seed will be taken by Halep.
