The world's most illuminated Christmas tree and a dance event with Minions characters are among the attractions Universal Studios Japan launches on Friday to entertain visitors over the winter season.

The operator of the theme park in Osaka, western Japan, decorated the tree standing over 30 meters tall with 580,000 lights, renewing its own Guinness World Record for the largest number of decorative lights on an artificial Christmas tree.

During a preview for the press and special guests on Wednesday, the operator also staged a dance performance featuring Minions clad in Christmas costumes.

An 8-year-old girl who joined the performance in a shower of colorful confetti said, "I had a very good time dancing with a snowman character."
