The main gateway to Hokkaido resumed international flights Saturday morning, the government said, two days after a magnitude-6.7 earthquake struck Japan's northernmost main island.
About 90 international flights are scheduled to depart from and arrive at New Chitose Airport near Sapporo during the day, the transport ministry said.
The airport had already restarted services for domestic flights.
The powerful quake that struck Thursday killed 18 people, while two others showed no signs of life and another 22 people are still missing.
The quake caused a power cut across the prefecture, left many homes without water and paralyzed transportation. Smaller aftershocks have also continued in the prefecture.
