Keiju Okada and Jumpei Hokazono won gold in the men's 470 event at the sailing World Cup on Sunday after the final race was cancelled at Enoshima Yacht Harbour, the venue for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Okada and Hokazono had a lead going into Sunday's final after eight races. But the sea breeze necessary for the fleets to sail did not develop, handing the gold medal to the Japanese pair.

Australia's Mathew Belcher and William Ryan finished runners-up, while Japan's Daichi Takayama and Kimihiko Imamura took bronze.

According to the Japan Sailing Federation, Okada and Hokazono's victory was the first by Japanese men in the World Cup Series.

In the women's 470 event, Japan's Ai Yoshida and Miho Yoshioka finished runners-up behind Afrodite Zegers and Anneloes van Veen of the Netherlands. Italy's Benedetta Di Salle and Alessandra Dubbini were third.
