A 2-year-old boy who was found this week after being missing for three days apparently ate nothing while wandering on a western Japan island, police sources said Friday.

The X-ray pictures taken during a medical checkup after Yoshiki Fujimoto was found uninjured Wednesday showed nothing in his stomach, the sources said. Fujimoto is expected to leave the hospital next week where he is currently being treated for mild dehydration.

Yoshiki went missing last Sunday after he split up with his grandfather while heading to a beach in the town of Suo-Oshima, Yamaguchi Prefecture.

He was found three days later on a mountain barefooted and sitting near a stream, about 600 meters away from where he was last seen by the grandfather.

Police will ask the boy how he reached the location after he fully recovers.
