Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda will be hoping to extend his scoring run against African teams at the World Cup finals when the Samurai Blue take on Senegal in their second Group H match on Sunday.

Honda scored the winner as Japan stunned Cameroon 1-0 in their opening match at the 2010 finals in South Africa and was also on target in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ivory Coast in Brazil four years ago.

The 32-year-old Pachuca midfielder set up Yuya Osako's winning goal in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over 10-man Colombia after replacing Shinji Kagawa midway through the second half and is expected to start on the bench again for Sunday's game at Ekaterinburg Arena.

But speaking after returning to full training on Friday, Honda said, "I'll be telling players that can pass the ball to make sure they watch my movement."

Senegal also opened their campaign with a win, the Lions of Teranga beating Poland 2-1 thanks to an own goal by Thiago Cionek and some woeful Polish defending that gifted the second goal to M'Baye Niang.

Although the physical Africans are expected to cause problems going forward, Honda picked out weaknesses that he believes Japan can take advantage of.

"We understand what their strengths are but will be looking to exploit their weaknesses," such as slack marking said Honda, who also said in a FIFA interview on Wednesday that set pieces will likely hold the key to victory.

"I think we can fool them if we are crafty, including on set pieces, and I also get the impression we can target their goalkeeper. I am sure the key will be set pieces."

Honda took the corner which Osako headed home in the win over Colombia but sloppy play in midfield from the former AC Milan man put Japan under pressure in the closing stages against the South Americans.

"I made a mistake but what's wrong with that? It didn't lead to us conceding a goal. End of. We should have the guts not to be afraid to mess up."

Honda, who returned to full training with the squad after experiencing soreness in his calves, confirmed he will be playing in his last World Cup at this tournament.

The bleach-blonde attacker said, "This will be my last World Cup and I am pouring all my energy into it. I want to sign off with no regrets."
