Olivia the parrot, one of several football psychics from the animal kingdom, predicted Monday that Japan will open their World Cup campaign with a loss.

Olivia, a gray parrot kept at the Nasu Animal Kingdom in Tochigi Prefecture, eastern Japan, chose Colombia to win Tuesday's Group H match in Saransk, Russia.

The bird has been predicting football results since the 2014 World Cup, and found fame during the 2015 Women's World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics, when he successfully predicted the outcomes of 6/7 and 5/7 matches, respectively. The parrot has predicted about 80 percent of the matches accurately, according to the zoo.

The latest prediction from Olivia saw the bird given the choice of a small Japanese flag, a small Colombian flag, and a third option that signified a draw.

He first picked up the flag representing a draw with his beak, but after a moment of hesitation, chose the Colombian flag and passed it to a member of staff.

"I hope his prediction is wrong this time," said Nozomi Oikawa, a staff of the zoo. "The parrot was hovering for a while, so maybe it will be a tight match."

Soccer has seen a number of animal psychics in recent years, with arguably the most famous being Paul the Octopus, who found fame from his tank in Germany during the 2010 World Cup.
