Spanish media reported Tuesday that former Spain and Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres would prefer to play in the J-League, where he has an offer from first-division side Sagan Tosu, than in China or the United States.
The 34-year-old Torres, who debuted for Spain in 2003 and has also played for Chelsea and Liverpool, has been linked with American Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire and a team in China.
Earlier this month, Japanese sports daily Hochi Shimbun reported that J-League strugglers Sagan - who made a move for former Bayern Munich boss Felix Magath and came close to signing him in the past - were interested in signing Torres, who scored twice on Sunday in his final game for Atletico, his boyhood club.

Sagan are currently 17th in the 18-team J1 table.
Torres' compatriot and Spain teammate Andres Iniesta is reportedly close to a deal with J-League side Vissel Kobe.
