Alvark Tokyo produced a stifling defensive performance to defeat their arch rivals, the Chiba Jets Funabashi, 85-60 in Saturday's B. League championship final.

In front of 12,005 at Yokohama Arena, Luka Pavicevic's side led at every break, seeking out points in the paint on a day when neither team could hit from outside.

The Montenegrin-born head coach lauded his players' perseverance throughout the playoffs and 60-game regular season.

"These players deserve this championship. I thank them for letting me coach them," Pavicevic said.

"All these guys, whether they were injured or not, had the same fire and same belief, that with hard work they would come to the one place -- a championship."

Center Alex Kirk led the way for Alvark, scoring 23 points on efficient 11-of-15 shooting.

Tokyo went into the main break with a 43-33 lead after Jawad Williams hit their only three-pointer of the half with a heave at the buzzer.

They extended the lead to 12 at the final break, before stamping their authority in the fourth quarter, outscoring their opponents 24-11 over the last 10 minutes.

Power forward Gavin Edwards had 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks to lead the way for the Jets.
