Japan's Satoko Miyahara won the women's short program on Saturday at Skate America, the final event of the ISU Grand Prix Figure Skating series.

Miyahara scored 70.72 points in a program that featured a triple lutz-triple toe loop combination at Herb Brooks Arena. Compatriot Kaori Sakamoto was runner-up, 1.32 points behind Miyahara, and Canadian Gabrielle Daleman was third (68.08).

"I had no inclination I'd finish on top," Miyahara said. "I'm glad I could score in the 70s. It is a validation of the work I've put in."

In the men's competition, Japan's Takahito Mura finished seventh while American Nathan Chen topped the podium after the free routine.

Chen, who led the competition after Friday's short program, was second in his free skate and finished with 275.88 points overall to secure a spot at next month's Grand Prix final in Nagoya. His compatriot Adam Rippon (266.45) finished second and Russian Sergei Voronov (257.49) was third.

Mura scored 137.72 and finished eighth in the men's free skate, ending the competition with a 212.77 total.

"In a word -- it's frustrating," Mura said. "It made me realize once again that this is my current ability."
