Japan's Yu Darvish threw seven solid innings and countryman Kenta Maeda worked one inning of relief as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 9-3 on Monday for their 100th regular-season win.

Darvish (10-12) allowed a run-scoring double by Hunter Renfroe in the fifth, one of only two hits he yielded en route to his first major league win at Dodger Stadium. He struck out nine of the 24 batters he faced and hit a batter.

"I was confident that I could control each and every pitch," Darvish said. "Everything was clicking today and when it came to how to get those batters out, I was able to pitch backward."

"10 wins looks good, but I don't pay much attention to that."

It was the first time in three years that Darvish has reached 10 wins. He underwent right elbow surgery in March 2015 and missed that entire season, his fourth with the Texas Rangers. He was traded to the Dodgers minutes before this year's July 31 trade deadline.

Darvish's previous win at the ballpark came as a reliever for Japan in the 2009 World Baseball Classic final.

Thanks largely to a three-run double by Logan Forsythe in the first and a three-run homer by Austin Barnes in the fifth, Darvish left the mound with an 8-1 lead and turned the game over to Maeda.

Maeda had been moved to the bullpen after surrendering 14 runs in 14 innings over his previous four starts. Out of the bullpen, the former Hiroshima Carp ace allowed two runs, one earned.

"Because I was in short relief, I was throwing harder than I usually do," Maeda said. "Everything went smoothly as I entered the game, but I'm not content having allowed two runs to score."

At Citi Field in New York, Norichika Aoki went 0-for-4 in the first game of a doubleheader as the New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 9-2.

In the second game, Aoki walked as a pinch hitter and stole his 10th base of the season in a 3-2 victory.
