Organisers of dance event SHIROFES. 2017 have teamed up with Red Bull BC One Camp to bring a selection of top break dancers from around the world to the event held in the city of Hirosaki, Aomori over three days from June 30 to July 2.

As a project that formed part of Hirosaki Design Week, SHIROFES. was introduced to event proceedings last year with the dance performance extravaganza attracting some 5,000 spectators to a stage set up against the unique backdrop of Hirosaki Castle.  The event returns for 2017 with Hirosaki University playing host to event programs on June 30 and July 1, before making a return to Hirosaki Park (and castle) for the final day on June 2.

In teaming up with hip hop culture event Red Bull BC One Camp, SHIROFES. 2017 is expected to attract visitors from all over the world with something on offer to please both adults and kids.

Dance performance festival put together by organizers Funky Stadium, featuring dance, music, art, and projection mapping involving local creators and those from around Japan and overseas.  SHIROFES. 2017 will be held across three days from June 30 to July 2 with programs at Hirosaki University and Hirosaki Park (and castle).

About Red Bull BC One Camp

Started out as a sub-contest in 2016 for breaking's premier world contest, Red Bull BC One, Red Bull BC One Camps feature dance workshops and battles, art exhibits, and talks.  Camps for 2017 will also be held in The Netherlands, Italy, France, Russia, and Turkey.  

Last year's camp held at Meijo University, Nagoya, attracted some 6,000 spectators.

Pop 1 on 1 Battle “Samurai”

Introduced into the world break dance scene in 2016, the new pop dance world contest, Pop 1 on 1 Battle “Samurai”, saw SHIROFES. 2016 play host to the final Asia qualifier for the contest during which eight dancers from Asia fought it out for a chance to appear in the July 2 (2017) final.  Contestants for the final will include seven qualifiers from around the world (America, France, Canada, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan) together with the victor of a final qualifier to be held the day before the final contest.
